Cycling in the Lot, Cele and Dordogne Valleys

This guided bike tour in the Lot Valley is in a word, stunning. We have designed this tour to showcase the highlights by including some of the rarer jewels of the valley as well as its better known attributes. Basing out of your lovely, 4 star lodge overlooking the valley, you'll have the chance to explore it in all directions, taking in the sun-drenched wine region, the wilder causses of the north, fabled Sarlat and the Dordogne and of course Cahors. There is ample room to explore the towns along the way and at the end of the day, you can relax before dinner on the beautiful stone deck with great views down valley.

Base touring of this nature allows you to relax without moving daily. You can relax around the pool and landscaped grounds or walk in the woods surrounding the lodge. There's always a cold drink and a hot Jacuzzi awaiting you at the end of the day, and plenty of sunny spots to sit for a quiet read. The daily rides are varied, with routes following water courses and tributaries of the Lot River. We also take you to more remote sections of the region to give you a feel for its wilder side before delivering you into important towns like Cahors, Figeac or Sarlat for a bit of history.

Along with many small hamlets, each day has at least one noteworthy village or chateau to explore. Lunch is on shady market squares and the cool of the river is always close by. We have designed the tour to appeal to most abilities with different distance options and the van is always on hand to support as needed.

For history buffs, prehistory reigns in the region with troglodyte caves, 25,000 year old cave paintings and cool underground caverns on offer. The real star of course is the river itself. It folds over itself like silk, giving superb views of the many cliff-side bastides and chateaus around every bend. For wine lovers, the "black wine" of Cahors doesn't disappoint and the food is simply the best in the area.
