“We are still talking about our great time with you in CZ! Some thoughts: I felt that our guides really cared about us “slow folks” in the back. You never hurried us. It was a great tour – everything was much more than I thought it would be – well organized, fun and it was great to have the “boss” with us. What a treat!! You made me feel really special”.

French walking in the wine region of the Lot Valley, France
This beautiful French walking tour has been designed to showcase the lower Lot Valley, combining the pleasure of walking through a beautiful landscapes with the convenience of basing out of a 4 star luxury French country lodge or a 3 star riverside hostelerie. Having a single base gives you more time to appreciate the region while giving you access to other areas through short transits. Each walk takes you to places of interest along the ridges and river valley. Only one day is exclusively dedicated to touring on four wheels in order to visit the some of the more picturesque villages not accessible by walking.

The Lot is known for its amazing gastronomic traditions dating back hundreds of years. You will have a chance to enjoy wonderful food every day either dining at the lodge or in local restaurants ranging from rustic ferme auberge to the finest establishments in the area. You will also have a chance to explore typical village markets and visit local vineyards to learn and taste the excellent “black wine” of Cahors.

The Lot has been a well-known holiday destination for the French over many generations. However it is only just beginning to be popular among foreigners, some of whom might be more familiar with the Dordogne, the county that borders the Lot. The area is famous for its wealth of Paleolithic and medieval sites, picturesque hilltop villages and unspoiled and varied countryside. You will be able to sample all these features during your week in the Lot Valley.

The walks are intended to be accessible to anyone who is active and would appeal to the wider public. The routes have been chosen carefully to take in beautiful French bastides, historic sites and riverside villages and allow for time off to explore. Your English speaking guides have specialist knowledge of the arts, history and culture of the area, and live in the region. They will help you learn about the natural and cultural wealth of this special part of France.
